Mission Direct enables everyday people to make a practical and lasting difference to some of the world's most vulnerable people. We do this by making long-term commitments to our carefully-chosen partners in-country and equipping volunteers to join us for a 2-week short-term volunteering mission trip overseas to build homes, schools/classrooms, hospitals and rescue centres etc. The impact you have and how much your time means to the local people, will change you forever!

In September, Mission Direct and Footprints Foundation for Children in Zambia run a bespoke non-building team to work amongst the street children in Lusaka. Volunteers can serve alongside the dedicated Zambian Footprints outreach team in their work amongst groups of children and teenagers who have found themselves living in vulnerable, appalling and dangerous conditions on the streets.
Isolated, forgotten, hungry; possibly a description that could apply to many elderly and disabled people. In the UK we may have Care Homes and Social Services which might fill some of the gap. However even that cannot compensate for the loneliness of those who have outlived or been forgotten by their family. In Uganda there is no state help. Fortunately, Uganda is a caring society and extended family, kindly neighbours, churches and organisations such as the Mother’s Union are active in moving alongside the elderly.
